Manhattan Picture Database CD-Rom

The Manhattan Picture Database CD-ROM is a project still being created. Currently, the cd contains over 10,000 photographs covering an estimated 31,000 properties in Manhattan. Coverage presently consists of buildings along the main avenues and on the primary cross towns streets up to 59 Street. Side streets and smaller streets has minimal coverage. The screenshot of the map (item 4 below) provides you with some idea of what is covered. In addition to the thousands of photographs, this remarkable cd-rom also contains a text database covering every single property in Manhattan. If that was not enough, the Manhattan Picture Database CD-Rom also contains historic information including a complete land/map block and lot book of Manhattan covering every property as it was in 1914. The cd also contains a number of "actuallities" or early movies of Manhattan which were shot between 1898 and 1905. This CD is truly fascinating.

operating system limitation that requires
certain files to be a maximum of
8 characters long and the need to be
compatible with all computers. This
does not effect the operation of the
